How to find out what a PayPal direct debit is

In your PayPal account, click on "Settings" (gearwheel) in the upper right corner. In the settings, click on the text "PayPal payments by merchant debit" under "Payments" in the lower right corner.

PayPal Direct Debit means that you give PayPal the authority and mandate to directly debit your account for any payments or purchases that you want to make on PayPal. This can be quite an advantage because you don't have to worry about deferred payments or third parties.

You should be notified in advance – normally 10 working days – of any changes to amounts to be paid or the payment dates. Always check your bank or building society statement. Direct Debits are usually shown with a DD alongside the payment.

PayPal Direct Payment means a payment processed by PayPal that is funded directly by a credit or debit card and not through an Account, such as payments made through PayPal Payments Advanced and PayPal Payments Pro, but excluding payments made using guest checkout.
