How do I allow Apps to connect to Facebook?

On your browser head to the upper right corner of the Facebook page. Click Settings and Privacy > Privacy. On the left side you should be able to see a field named Apps and Websites where you will see which apps currently have access to your data. If you click View and edit you can make changes on this list. We recommend removing any apps that you don’t know or that you no longer use.

A lot of changes are rolling out on Facebook, and the Apps area didn't escape this remodel. Currently, an app only needs you to authorize permission once. After permission is given, it can post and share activity on Facebook on your behalf without approval. If you want to check up on what an app has access to, or are tired of sharing what game you're playing, here's how to adjust those settings:

Step 1: In Facebook, click the small arrow near your name in the upper-right-hand corner and choose Privacy Settings.

Step 2: Scroll down to Apps and Web sites and click on Edit Settings off to the right.

Step 3: If the app you want to adjust is in the recently used list, click on it to edit settings. If not, click on the Edit Settings button to see all apps.

Step 4: Find the app you want to adjust permissions for in the list that loads, and click Edit.

Step 5: Look over all of the areas that the app can access on your Facebook. On some apps, you will be able to revoke certain permissions.

Step 6: Scroll to App activity privacy; select the people who can see activity from the app you're currently working with in the pop-up list.

If you don't want to share app activity with anyone on Facebook, you'll need to perform one more step.

(Optional) Step 7: Choose Custom from the list, and in the new window select Only me from the drop-down options.

When you first launch an application on Facebook, you give it permission to access certain aspects of your profile. You can adjust the application's permissions at any time by adjusting your account's privacy settings. Changes that you make to permissions take effect immediately.

  1. Hundreds of apps are available to use on Facebook. Apps range from games such as “Nightclub City” to other social networking sites such as Twitter. When you access an app through Facebook, you must agree to certain terms, including allowing the app to access aspects of your profile. In most cases, the apps want permission to access your basic information such as your profile picture name. Other apps may ask for more in-depth access such as your videos, friends and news feed.

  1. When you give an app permission to access your account, you can view and manage the app's permissions through your account's privacy settings. Log in to your account and click the drop-down arrow at the far right of the screen at the top. Click “Privacy Settings.” Click “Edit Settings” next to Apps and Websites to view management options for the apps you currently use or have used.

  1. If permission is denied on an app that requires certain access to your profile, you can't use the app. Click “Edit Settings” next to Apps You Use on the Apps, Games and Websites page settings page. Click the app for which you want to adjust the settings. All of the permissions granted to the app will be displayed. Click “Remove” to delete any of the permissions. Click “Close” after adjusting your permissions.

  1. If an app doesn't allow you to remove certain permissions, you have the option to completely remove it. When you opt to remove the app, you can't access it again without giving it permission again. Click the “X” next to the app while viewing the list of your apps. Click “Remove” to confirm that you want to remove the app. Click “Okay” when confirmation is displayed.
