How to download file from Messenger on Android

People share photos, videos as well as audio messages on several social media apps, the popular ones include WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger. Even though apps like WhatsApp offers you to download all the media automatically, the Facebook Messenger app, by default, doesn’t save media automatically, you need to manually download them one by one. While downloading audio files, I figure out that the Messenger doesn’t let you save the audio messages.

How to send audio messages on iPhone?

By selecting ‘Save Video’, the video will be downloaded into the photo/video gallery on your phone. If you choose ‘Save to Facebook’, this will save the video in the ‘Saved’ section of your Facebook profile.

Using a computer

Double click on the video you want to download from Facebook Messenger to open it in full screen.

Move your cursor up towards the top left of your screen and three options will appear – ‘Download’, ‘Forward’ and ‘Info’.

Simply select ‘Download’ to download the video to your computer.

The video will be automatically saved wherever you save downloads by default.

Simples!

But sometimes it’s not quite to simples – if you can’t get this method to work, you could try one of these alternative ways to download a video from Facebook Messenger.

Where are Messenger files stored on Android?

Facebook Messenger saves photos to $EXTERNAL_STORAGE/Pictures/Messenger . That variable depends on your device, but on mine it is /storage/sdcard0 which is also pointed to by the /sdcard symlink. Is there any way to change that?
