The shops and restaurants are authentic. The hotel staff are amazing particularly Livio. He made us feel so comfortable and went out of his way in the hotel and outside to take care of us. You won't be disappointed in this comfortable hotel in a quiet area of town. It’s just far enough out of the city to feel like you’re living in ‘real’ Rome, yet close and easy enough to access the key areas of town to make it feel close. My partner and I stayed here for four nights in September, using the Metro to get us to key tourist destinations. We found lots of restaurants, cafes, bars and amenities in the area (within an easy, five minute walk) filled with locals - no tourist traps (and their prices) around here. The rooms are, typically for European capitals, on the smaller side, but we found it comfortable enough - having said that, If I stayed again I’d spend the additional $$$ to get a room with a couch or similar so there was somewhere to relax other than on the bed. The buffet breakfast was good on the day we tried it, too. The hotel is in a great location, being very close to several public transit options, including the Metro (Piazza Bologna station is only a five-minute walk away) and several busses, also to the center of Rome. I also liked the location because it's in a real Roman neighborhood, so we could take advantage of great local shops and restaurants. The rooms aren't big, but they are comfortable, as are the beds. The air conditioning was good, which was very important since it was extremely hot every day we were there. As the hotel is on a side street, it's very quiet at night, which I appreciated. The breakfast was large and tasty. I didn't order any food from the bar, but I did get a glass of wine a couple of times, and it was up to the standard that you'd expect in Italy (it was good!), which I took to the lovely roof terrace to drink, with a couple of other members of our party. The customer service is excellent! First, I had to change my reservation a couple of times due to circumstances, and they were always very accommodating. After arrival I had a situation arise with my group where I needed to secure another room, and the woman at the front desk (I know her name began with an M, I'm sorry I can't remember!) was extremely helpful. She was able to get me the room, at close to the group rate I'd paid for the other rooms, which I appreciated. Due to all of these factors I would definitely stay at the hotel again, and have already recommended it to others who are thinking of making a trip to Rome.
